With the last Monday of May coming up we approach upon Memorial Day. Memorial Day was wonderfully Instituted to lay the foundation of support for the servicemen we've lost. It's important to remember those we have lost so that we never forget their service and their sacrifice.
Memorial Day goes back quite a bit further than most people realize. Memorial Day wasn't originally Memorial Day, it was actually named Decoration Day. Born from the ash of the Civil War, Decoration Day was officially proclaimed on May 30th by General John Logan, National Commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, on May 5th, 1868. Congress would go on to pass the National Holiday Act of 1971. changing the title of Decoration Day to Memorial Day. This also officiated the recognition of Memorial Day as a national holiday. As well as declaring that Memorial Day falls on the last Monday of May.
The point is, it's imperative that we celebrate Memorial Day, we cannot forget the servicemen that have served our nation. Enlisting in the military is no small change of lifestyle. It is an enormous commitment; it takes you away from almost everyone you know and subjects you to months of training. After you finish your training, you will usually be working away from home, away from family and friends, whether it be overseas or in the States. These are the things that lots of people would sum up as, well... just about everything to them. These people are giving up everything that matters to them to serve us and keep us safe.
There is a sacrifice these brave heroes make as well, their mental health. It's terrible to think about, honestly its terrible to write about, but it's not something that can go unsaid. In 2020, there were 6,146 recorded Veteran suicide deaths. Even after our soldiers make it home many must now fight their hardest battle yet, and that is the internal psychological conflict that plagues our veterans.
Hearing that any hero has lost his life is tear-jerking, but 6,146 in one year is absolutely unacceptable. It is appalling, and even sickening to hear about such a statistic. This statistic alone lights a fire of support in the hearts of many Americans, including us. This Metaphorical fire doesn't need to be extinguished either, this is a fire that needs to spread, and that is our goal. Being we are the people they sacrificed for; we must not forget to support, cherish, and celebrate our veterans.
We at Bio-One NW Indianapolis support our veterans in any way we can, as well as remember the brave servicemen we have lost. We understand the sacrifices they have made for us and appreciate everything they have done. Without our servicemen and their sacrifice, the world wouldn't function as it does. Thanks to these people, we can live peacefully.
Thank you to all of our servicemen, whether you are here with us now or have sadly moved on, we appreciate and value you. Your service, as well as yourself. You haven't been forgotten; you won't be forgotten. Thank you.
If you have any questions, you can reach out to us at any time. We are always here to help.

Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment is crucial for our overall health and well-being. One often overlooked aspect of hygiene is the proper disinfection of rodent droppings. While rodents may seem harmless, their droppings can pose serious health risks. This blog will explore the importance of rodent droppings disinfection and understand why it is essential for safeguarding public health. Bio-One NW Indianapolis specializes in Rodent Disinfection for residential and commercial properties to keep you and your loved ones safe.
Rodents, such as mice and rats, are known carriers of various diseases and pathogens. Their droppings can harbor harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can contaminate surfaces, food, and air, leading to the transmission of diseases to humans. Disinfection of rodent droppings is especially important to certain people at risk. These groups include people who are pregnant, elderly, immunocompromised, and infants and toddlers. Some of the health risks that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) mentions, associated with rodent droppings include:
When dealing with rodent droppings, it is essential to follow proper guidelines to ensure effective disinfection:
Rodent urine can also pose significant health risks and should be treated with caution. When rodents, such as rats or mice, urinate, they can contaminate surfaces and objects with bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens present in their urine. Rodent urine is more dangerous than droppings due to it being harder to detect whether it's on the wall, floor, or on objects. Regular cleaning and disinfection, along with proper rodent control measures, are essential for maintaining a healthy and safe environment.
Disinfecting rodent droppings is not just about cleanliness; it is a critical step in protecting ourselves and our communities from potential health risks. By promptly addressing rodent infestations and following proper disinfection protocols, we can mitigate the spread of diseases and ensure a safer, healthier environment for everyone. Let Bio-One NW Indianapolis prioritize rodent droppings disinfection for you to keep you and your loved ones safe.

As we come upon the annual third Saturday of May, we also approach National Armed Forces Day. It's of the utmost importance that we pay our respects to the brave people serving in the military for our country. Every day they work to keep our nation a safer and better place, and at times, sacrifice everything they have to make the world a better place.
In 1962 President John F. Kennedy established National Armed Forces Day and with good reason. It is very important that we celebrate and continue to show our love and support for our military. Not everyone in the military does the same thing, some see combat every day, some don't see it all, some go overseas, and some remain in the States. Regardless of role, what every serviceman has in common is that they are all heroes.
National Armed Forces Day is important for not only showing our support for our troops. It is also imperative to educate yourself on the impact that the military has on society, as well as the impact that service can have on them. Due to the sacrifices our soldiers make every day we can sleep peacefully at night. Their fight doesn't stop once they come home either, many veterans come back home with PTSD.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a mental health condition triggered by a traumatic event. PTSD can get substantially better over time, but there is no cure for it. It is projected that 7 out of every 100 veterans will have PTSD, that is 7% of all veterans. This is why it is crucial to show our love and support for our troops. They fight for us away from home, to keep our homes safe, we must help them with their mental battles when they come back.
Expressing gratitude and offering support to the armed forces is not limited to a single day. However, National Armed Forces Day serves as a poignant reminder of the dedication and sacrifices made by service members. There are numerous ways individuals can show their appreciation:
a. Thank a Service Member: Expressing gratitude to service members in person or through written notes and messages can make a significant impact. It shows that their service is valued and acknowledged.
b. Engage in Volunteer Work: Participate in volunteer programs or initiatives that directly support military personnel, veterans, or their families. This could involve mentoring programs, care packages, or offering assistance in job placement.
c. Advocate for Policies: Support policies that promote the well-being, mental health, and fair treatment of military personnel and veterans. Raise awareness about the challenges they face and encourage others to do the same.
We at BioOne NW Indianapolis work closely with law enforcement and work with our veterans on a fairly frequent basis. We have the utmost respect for those who have served and are always looking to help support them how we can. No matter the struggle, whether it be mental or physical, BioOne NW Indianapolis wants to help.

As we continue to move through the month of May, we have come upon National Police Week. as well as the upcoming National Peace Officers Memorial Day. This is the week of May when we honor the brave Heros that are our police officers serving and risking their safety for ours every day.
In 1962 President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th National Peace Officers Memorial Day. This is the day that we honor all of our peace officers who have lost their lives. Its always tragic when officers pass attempting to protect not only you but your fellow man as well. Since then, the week that includes May 15th has been designated as National Police Week, and it has grown to become a significant event in the law enforcement community.
One of the most important aspects of National Police Week is the opportunity it provides for us to honor the men and women who serve in law enforcement. Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities, and National Police Week is a chance for us to show them our appreciation. It is a time to recognize the sacrifices that these brave individuals make and to thank them for their service.
It is imperative for us to remember the officers who sadly lost their lives in the line of duty. For a large part of the nation, blue and gold are a sign of Justice. It instills a feeling of safety and peace in the people of the United States. Sadly, this is not how everyone thinks of it. For some, it even paints a target on the backs of officers sworn to protect them.
In addition to honoring those who serve and those who have lost their lives. National Police Week also serves as an opportunity for law enforcement agencies to come together and collaborate. During this week, law enforcement agencies from around the country participate in a variety of events. Such as the National Police Memorial Service, which brings together thousands of officers and their families to honor fallen officers.
National Police Week is also a time for us to reflect on the role of law enforcement in our society. The police force plays a vital role in maintaining law and order. Their work is absolutely essential for the safety and security of our communities. However, the role of law enforcement is not without its challenges and controversies. National Police Week provides an opportunity for us to have important conversations about the issues facing law enforcement and to work toward solutions.

In conclusion, National Police Week is an important event that serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers. Let us use this week to show our appreciation for the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.

May is Mental Heath Awareness Month
May 25 2022 by Michael Weinblatt
As we near the end of Mental Health Awareness month, the Bio-One NW Indianapolis team reflects on the important factors. Recognizing various types of mental health situations, communicating with families, and helping people solve problems to get their life back together are just a few important traits that must be understood. Bio-One NW Indianapolis specializes in not only the technical aspect of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting, but helping our clients along the way. With 40+ years of experience, our owner knows first hand how helping people solve their problems can change lives.
Why is Mental Health Awareness Important?
Mental health is an important and crucial element to your well-being that sometimes gets overlooked. We are often taught how to take care of our bodies, but what about our minds? This is what controls all of the functions in our bodies, tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and releases all the hormones that keep us happy, motivated, and operating in a healthy way.
How can Bio-One NW Indianapolis help?
As previously mentioned, our owner has 40+ years of helping people solve problems. Our team takes time to personalize, tailor, and customize our approach to each individual client. We work at a pace that puts you at ease, while pushing towards the ultimate goal, helping you get control back. Whether we are called for junk removal, decluttering a home, cleanup of a biohazard blood situation, or remediating cat urine, our objective remains the same. We want you to be comfortable and we want to solve your problem. We do well with the situations we handle, but we also do good by our clients. We live by the Bio-One motto, "Help First, Business Second."

Why is Blood so difficult to clean?
Feb. 16 2021 by Michael Weinblatt
When coming across a scene where blood is present, it can be very intimidating. Not only is blood dangerous to come in contact with, it is very stubborn to clean and disinfect. Bio One NW Indianapolis specializes in blood cleanup and disinfection.
Why is blood so hard to clean?
Blood's ability to stain fabric, seep into materials such as floors or walls, and it's ability to bind into anything it comes in contact with, makes it very difficult to clean and disinfect.
Why is blood so dangerous?
Blood borne pathogens pose many risks to health such as HIV, HPV, HCV, and many others. When blood is present, anyone has a risk to exposure. It is important to know the ability that blood poses as a risk to health and safety. It is also dangerous to be near blood, because if in the vicinity of blood, it is possible for blood borne pathogens to come in contact through inflation.
Why trust Bio-One NW Indianapolis?
At Bio-One NW Indianapolis, we use special chemicals to help not only clean, but disinfect blood no matter what material it is on. We also use sophisticated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), such as respirators, gloves, booties, and biohazard suits, etc. Our certified technicians have received training on how to handle situations such as this, as well plenty of first hand experience.
If you have any questions you can reach out to us at any time. We are always here to help.

Animal hoarding is something that is more common than you might realize. Sometimes you will hear about it in the news, magazines and social media. You will hear how the animals were rescued and the person who is responsible for their mistreatment has charges against them. But what happens to the animals? Who rescues them and what do they go through? What happens to the home?
Once the animals are rescued from the home, there is a lot of hard work that needs to be done to make the home habitable again. There are many companies that do clean out homes from hoarding situations. However, there is 1 company that is preferred, and that is Bio-One. Bio-One works hand in hand with rescues to make sure all animals are out safely. When there are very young puppies, kittens or elderly animals, they like to hide. So it takes care and focus to look for these animals and get them out of the home into the rescues arms safely. Also, Bio-One always has a staff member on site that is trained in animal rescue and pet first aid in case an emergency situation occurs. While this is taking place, Bio-One is also removing debris, feces, urine, damaged items and anything else that needs to go. Many times there is thousands of dollars in damage in the home. Making sure you have a company that cares is very important because these situations are very sensitive.
The last piece of the equation is mental health. Hoarding is recognized as a disease and should be treated as so. People who hoard need physiological help or they will most likely revert back to hoarding. Do not turn your back on them, offer them help. The other people who may need a therapist to talk to are the rescuers. They see a part of humanity that many do not want to acknowledge is there or do not understand. They see abuse, death and trauma daily. Yet, they do it day after day. The psychological tole that takes is huge.
So what can you do to help?
First, if you are looking for a new pet, please consider adopting from a rescue. It is so rewarding and helps save a life.
Second, if you are looking to volunteer, please call your local animal rescue to volunteer with them. Most rescues are looking for fosters, adoption specialists, comfort volunteers to sit or play with the animals, and many other things.
Third, donate to your local rescue. Blankets, food, litter and toys are common things you can easily buy that a rescue can use. Fourth, if you know someone is a hoarder, please say something to them gently and with love. Offer them support.
If you have any questions you can reach out to us at any time. We are always here to help.

When a loved one dies by suicide, it’s fair to assume that first responders will decontaminate the scene. But they don’t, creating yet another dilemma for families who are freshly traumatized by a sudden and devastating loss. Driven to remove the memory of the death from your home as quickly as possible, your first impulse may be to clean the space yourself. But there are several reasons why you shouldn’t take on this burden.
For one, suicide cleanup is a traumatic and overwhelming experience of its own. Although you may think you can push through this task by suppressing your emotions, you’re at risk of developing PTSD and prolonging your grief. It's best to avoid the scene and leave this process to the professionals.
Additionally, you may be subject to harmful diseases if you don’t clean up the scene properly. Over-the-counter cleaning supplies are not always strong enough to kill some of these viruses. Pathogens linger long after a surface has been scrubbed, leaving you and your family at risk of developing bloodborne infections like Hepatitis C and HIV if your cleaning process has not been thorough enough.
Certified specialists in biohazard remediation are the only people qualified to perform this intensive work. They know the commonly missed areas, and how to keep themselves safe while making the home safe again for the family. Let them restore your home with the assurance that it will be sanitary.
Bio-One is here to help in this regard. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need assistance. We’re on standby 24/7, every day of the year, and are always available to answer any questions you might have.
